“I wish I could take the midwife home with me!” – well now you can!
I am a proud mum and step mum of five (now adult) children and Grandma to a growing brood!
Proud to be working alongside my daughter Katie who is also a Midwife and Lactation Consultant.
Qualifying as a Midwife in the UK, I gained a wealth of experience in all aspects of Midwifery care, in the home, in the community and in the hospital environment before emigrating to Australia in 2006.
My Community Midwife has experience working as a midwife in both the private and public sectors, I have further developed and extended my skills in the profession and after rigorous screening and further study I have successfully received notation as an Eligible Midwife, which means I have a Medicare provider number and PBS prescriber number. This means that you can choose to receive midwifery care from me and Medicare rebates apply to my services.
I am happy to say that I can now offer more choice to women with their antenatal and postnatal care by a dedicated and experienced midwife with excellent support from the obstetricians and paediatricians here in Townsville. I am happy to work in collaboration with any obstetrician by referral. I work safely, within my scope of practice and refer when appropriate within a multidisciplinary team.

Why choose a midwife?
Midwife means ‘with woman, and with ‘my community midwife ‘ you can receive one-to-one care from a known midwife throughout your pregnancy, and for six weeks after the birth of your baby. Care provided by my community midwife is family friendly, women-centered care with an collaborative approach to pregnancy, birth and parenting with safety as the emphasis.
My community midwife will support and assist you to make informed choices , will respect you as an individual and will equip you to learn skills for normal labour and to understand what may happen if things don’t go according to plan.
My community midwife can assist you with breast feeding and in understanding normal newborn behaviours, and settling techniques.
My community midwife understands the problems that many parents experience with breastfeeding when learning this new skill , especially once you are discharged from hospital and don’t have that call buzzer to hand!
With home visiting from my community midwife breastfeeding support is ongoing, your baby can be weighed at home and reassurance and guidance can be provided in the comfort of your own home if any concerns arise.
